Parks Forever
(Photo Credit: Friends of McNab's Island Society)Ensuring the protection of ecological integrity in our protected areas.
Defending existing protected areas against poor management practices is an on-going commitment made by CPAWS-NS. Natural treasures in Nova Scotia, such as Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Tobeatic Wilderness Area, and The Gully Marine Protected Area, must be safe-guarded against incompatible uses and encroachment by development and industrial activities.
CPAWS-NS is working to:
- ban the Off-Higway Vehicle loophole
- lessen resource development in or near protected areas
- educate the next generation of Nova Scotians
Afterall, protected areas are the frontlines for wilderness conservation in Nova Scotia. If these areas can't be properly protected, no places can.
